Current Volunteer Needs
Before beginning as a volunteer at Literacy Advance, you will need to register - if you haven't already done so, you can read the Volunteer FAQs, or request further information about joining our wonderful group of volunteers.

Can you help in the Wilcrest office?
Special Request for week of April 23 - April 27:
We will be short-staffed at the front desk in the mornings, due to a family emergency of one of the staff. If you can help cover the desk between 8am and 12pm on any day, please call 713-266-8777 and talk to Anna, Diana or Kathryn.

We often need front desk cover!
Light duties (answering phones, greeting people as they come in), friendly atmosphere, and training provided. Spanish speaker preferred, but not necessary.
Front desk cover needed especially on:
- Thursday, May 10: 11:30am – 2:30pm
- Saturday, May 12: 9:00am – 3:30pm
- Tuesday, May 15: 11:30am – 2:30pm
- Thursday, May 17: 11:30am – 2:30pm
- Saturday, May 19: 9:00am – 3:30pm
- Tuesday, May 22: 11:30am – 2:30pm
- Thursday, May 24: 11:30am – 2:30pm
- Tuesday, May 29: 11:30am – 4:00pm
- Thursday, May 31: 11:30am – 2:30pm
- Saturday, June 2: 9:00am – 3:30pm
NOTE: if you can't do the full time listed above, please consider coming in for just a part of the time! We're very flexible! And if you're available on a different day, please still get in touch - we can use help throughout the week.

family literacy
Volunteer for a Family Literacy Night Event!
Help us with literacy activities for the students (Pre-Kindergarten through 5th Grade), distribute free books to the children, or register the families as they arrive. Most events begin between 5:30 and 6 pm; volunteers arrive between 4:30 and 5:00 pm. All volunteers will need to complete a Criminal Background Check before being involved (Literacy Advance will cover the costs for this).

Student Orientation
Leaders for ESL Student Orientation needed
We are looking for volunteers willing to lead our ESL Student Orientation sessions. This is a very flexible volunteer opportunity - set your own schedule! We will provide training and guidance.
