Colonel Bauer retired from the Army in 1992 after 28 years of service in both military service as well as in the White House as the Military Social Aide for five U. S. Presidents. Author of At Ease in the White House and How to Sell to the United States Government.

Mrs. Bauer served on the Texas Board of Education in 2002 representing over one million constituents and is the author of several cookbooks including the Great American Sampler Cookbook.

Colonel and Mrs. Bauer co-wrote Recipes from Historic Texas.
